TRENDS #2:
ALL OF THE LIGHTS
If you’re looking for a super-fun way to light up your interiors, then try a neon sign for a quick and trendy update. Once the haunt of sleazy 1980s bars, neon signs are now a mainstay in the most Instagram-able of interior schemes.
They add a contemporary pop of colour and can fit into an array of design schemes – from industrial chic to French-style vintage. The key to making this work is to allow the neon to take centre stage and avoid any design elements that might compete for attention. Walls painted in a block
coloured chalk paint provide the perfect matte backdrop for neon or try stripping walls back to bare brick f an industrial look. A room featuring a neon light should have an element of the tongue-in-cheek about it. Rooms featuring neon slogans don’t take themselves too seriously so accessorise your space with pops of bright colour and a few kitsch accessories.
However, if you are worried your electricity bill may be less fun then fear not, neon signs are very energy efficient and the tubes last five to ten years. What’s not to love?
