Rhett & Emma Salmon’s passion for dance has taken
them all around the world performing and competing.
Dancing in contracts such as the famous “Moulin Rouge” in
Paris, the British Championships at the Winter Gardens in
Blackpool UK, and Disneyland Hong Kong. Rhett & Emma
compete as Professional Ballroom dancers representing
Australia at International Dancesport Competitions. Emma
is a current registered teacher for the Royal Academy of
Dance while Rhett is registered teacher and adjudicator for
Dancesport Australia. For 10 years, they have taught and
managed their own Dancesport Studio at Tweed Heads.

The three girls from Somerville House performing this
evening are all members of Somerville Strings, the premier
string orchestra at Somerville House School, South
Brisbane. Many members of this group already hold
performance diplomas on their instruments. Over the years,
Somerville Strings has been successful in many
competitions and eisteddfodau, including the Queensland
Youth Music Awards and the City of Brisbane
Eisteddfod. The group has toured Europe 3 times in recent
years – and their performances received standing ovations

from enthusiastic audiences. Last year, they won their 8
Platinum Award in a row in the A Grade String Section of
Music Fest, the largest school music competition in the
Southern Hemisphere. Their conductor is Loreta Fin,
Principal Viola of the Pops Orchestra.
