English is positioned as a universal language that
crosses countless borders. The British Empire saw
English as a language that could unite many people
around the world. For many years, the British forced
their citizens to learn English, even though it was not
their first language. The expansion has been so
significant, encouraged by Britain, that many
neighboring countries have English as their second
official language. The idea is clear: to achieve
connections between people and position the English
language throughout the world, allowing large
populations to interact without needing to know each
other's language of origin. This language has managed
to expand communication, opening doors for many
people on a personal and professional level. In other
words, English is the language of international
communication, finance and global trade. It is
promoted as the language of many international
organizations such as the European Union, United
Nations and UNESCO, which undoubtedly facilitates
communication with the world without barriers.
