Trauma, Tragedy & Trials
Chapter One
Jimmy and Me
Jimmy, I can’t breathe! You’re too heavy. You’re hurting me. I
can’t breathe. Why are you doing this? What are you doing to
me? Jimmy, you’re hurting me. I can’t breathe.
I don’t know what you’re doing. I can’t understand any of it.
What are we doing here? Why are you hurting me? What did
I do? I trust you. I’ve always trusted you, Jimmy. You’re not like
the other boys. Frankie and Billy are always bullying me. Not
you. You’re different. You’re my very favourite brother. I know
I’m special to you. Even though you’re so much older than me,
you treat me like a princess.
When I tried on my brand-new pink and white checkered
flannel nightie, the one I got for my 5th birthday, you said I
was pretty. You said I was sexy. What does that mean? I don’t
know what that word sexy means. Does it mean you love me
most? Does it mean I’m your favourite too? You made me feel
so special and I know you love me. The other boys don’t love
me as much. But you do.
So why are you doing this? Why are you hurting me?
Jimmy, please stop. You’re way too heavy. I just want you to get
off me. I can’t breathe anymore.
