SHAUNA’S STAND–UP
I groaned, becoming more annoyed.
“I’m talking to you,” he said as he looked at me from the counter.
“No, but I’m going to start,” I replied in a grumpy voice.
“You know, this is the best thing for you, Shauna—other than that
stupid comedy thing you do. You need to set your mind on focusing on
the good things, like school, trying to have a good, pleasant life—and
you already know that.”
At that point, I was tired of my parents and how they think I can’t
set my future goals without their help. Like I said, they will never
understand how comedy and other good things have made my life
marvelous. But this time, I wasn’t going to sit down. I was going to
stand up for myself. And I wasn’t going to give up.
