the Bus. Then we went on to something else, to
Newport, and then to Berryhill. After a few days there,
we travelled to Rosehill. We walked some more, despite
          my aching feet and back.
Finally, we turned onto a path leading to a house. There,
I met a man who was introduced to me as my stepfather,
and I also met a young boy who was my half-brother,

excitement faded away because there was no one to play
with. But I just shrugged it off, saying that I was hungry
          and wanted to sleep.

I heard my mother say, “It's time to rise and shine.” I
hurt all over. I never forget the pain.
