Who is This Shepherd-King?

T
he most important character in this book of the Bible is the
Shepherd-King (who represents the person of Jesus to us).

The Shulamite signifies a hungry and yielded follower of
Christ.

The Book we are about to study depicts the spiritual journey of such a

believer into the wholeness of God's love and the facilitation of it
through the wooing of the Holy Spirit.

We are told that King Solomon wrote the story, and it has served its
purpose throughout church history in drawing people closer to God.

However, he couldn’t have known at the time of writing that as the end

of the age draws nearer, his words would be increasingly necessary and
instrumental in preparing the Body of Christ to become passionate and

faithful, overcoming lovers of God.

As you read on, you will discover the depth and hidden meaning of the

shepherd analogy, which brings us hope, peace, love, and a secure

sense of belonging. That is why we are pausing before embarking on
the study of the text to find out more about what that entails.
