UTILITY FAILURES (ELECTRIC/GAS/WATER)
Report power outages and gas leaks to the Engineering Director, (720) 355-1431 or Office Coordinator (303) 460-1615 or General Manager - Property Management, (303) 410-8979.
Electrical Power Outage
In most instances, disruptions of electrical service are of short duration and power is restored quickly. The Colorado office is in a single-level office building equipped with emergency generators which provide adequate lighting and alternative power to critical systems including fire alarms, elevators, etc.
In the event utility service is interrupted for a prolonged period, the Facilities Manager or designee, will be in contact with building management and utility service representatives as appropriate to determine when service will be restored. In such instances, employees should remain calm and will be informed so appropriate action can be taken.
Gas Leaks
If you smell the ‘rotten egg’ smell of natural gas and gas leaks you should:
• Cease all operations
• Evacuate employees from the immediate area
• If it is possible, open doors and windows to ventilate the
area. However, do not spend additional time opening doors and windows if there is an immediate danger of explosion or fire that could jeopardize your safety.
DO NOT:
• Turn electrical switches on or off
• Use a phone or cellular phone inside the facility
• Do not use any potential ignition sources or open flames • Take risks that may endanger you or others
• Use elevators
Water Leaks
• Report leaks to the Facilities Manager or designee, including the location and severity of the leak
• Label any containers used to contain leaks or spills
• If electrical equipment or outlets are near the leak, use
extreme caution
• Watch out for slip hazards and alert others when possible
