Upcoming Travel Committee Events and Information
Special Event:
Silvestro Silvestori, Director of the Awaiting Table Cookery School, will make two presentations at Cele-

brate: one on Sunday, January 12 , 1:00pm in the Lodge and the second on Monday, January 13 , also at
1:00pm in the same location. Mr. Silvestori founded the School in 2003 in Lecce, Italy in the Salento region
of Puglia. The School has hosted students from 59 countries and is recognized as one of Italy's top cooking
schools by Food & Wine Magazine. Italy's largest newspaper calls the School "a national treasure."
In his presentations, Mr Silvestori will introduce you to Italy, Puglia, Selento and its food and wine, Southern
Italian olive oil and today's challenges facing the olive groves. He will also talk about the 12 classes offered
by the Awaiting Table Cookery School, in both Lecce and a castle in Spongano. They include classes com-
bining biking and cooking, yoga and cooking, healthy eating and cooking, Southern Italian Jewish cooking
and more.
A $3.00 contribution toward his honorarium will be collected at the door. Sign up in the binder at the Lodge
front desk.
On January 6th at 9:00am RSVPs open for the Cherry Blossom Cruise aboard the Odyssey on Monday,
March 30th. Cost is $105 and payment is due at the time of the reservation. Details are available at the
Lodge.
The MGM Casino Bus trip on Wednesday January 29th is FILLING FAST. Cost
is $30. Check with the Front Desk at the Lodge for additional information.
In March, the Travel Committee is exploring a trip opportunity to Maymont Gar-
dens and Museum in Richmond VA.
April may bring either a bus trip to New York City and/or a trip to the Smithsonian and Spy Museum in
Washington DC.

Wednesday, May 13 there will be a day trip to Landsdowne Spa and Resort. Watch for further infor-
mation.

The Hudson River, NY trip scheduled for May 27 to May 29 is closing soon. If you’re interested,
please review the details and contact the travel agent.

June 6 there will be a Wine and Food Festival — but which one remains the question?
More info will be coming soon!
Also in June the Travel Committee is exploring to see if there’s a desire for a bus trip to
Occoquan for its renowned Annual Craft Show.
There will be another Washington Nationals Baseball game bus trip in July.
Fall will bring even MORE exciting things like Luray Caverns, and the Rockettes Christmas
Spectacular in New York City in December.
The Travel Committee meets the third Wednesday each month at 3:00 pm in the Rappahannock Room. All
are welcome.
