My Fourth Quarter
Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free,
I’m with my wife where I was always meant to be.
I took her hand when I heard her call,
I turned my back and left it all.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I’ve found my peace at the end of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
please fill it with remembered joy.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
Over the past seven months I endured much,
I missed my wife and her caring touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
I’m with my loving wife and now I’m happy and free.
