Thursday Evening Networking Events
7:15 PM – 8:30 PM EST R&E Scholars Tables: Opportunities and Challenges as a Gifted Education Scholar
The R&E Scholars Tables is an annual event held in conjunction with the R&E Graduate Student Research Gala. Being a
gifted education scholar presents many opportunities and challenges. Join experts in the field as they discuss with
graduate students what that has meant for them regarding social-emotional needs/graduate student mental health, equity
and excellence, work-life balance, getting funding as a graduate student, creating large-scale collaborations, finding non-
academic positions, and transitioning into the role of an early career scholar. We encourage graduate students from all
Networks to attend.
7:30 PM – 8:30 PM EST Computers & Technology and STEM: COVID-19 Teacher’s First Aid Kit
Join the NAGC Computers & Technology and STEM Networks for a chance to tap our collective wisdom. Bring your favorite
tools, resources, websites, and your willingness to share. Through both small-group and large-group discussions, we will
support one another in facing the challenges and sharing solutions for teaching and learning in this time of online and
hybrid education.
Moderators: Debbie Dailey, University of Central Arkansas
Christina M. Amspaugh, University of Virginia
Shirley J. Farrell, Troy University – Montgomery
7:30 PM – 8:45 PM EST Creativity Night: Believe in the Magic of Creativity
The Creativity and the Arts Networks are thrilled to showcase the talents of magician and writer Nate Staniforth and
animator Laura Margulies in a webinar broadcast sure to entertain and delight. Watch bewildering street magic and colorful
animations, and plan to linger for a Q&A with Nate. Join us and be truly amazed.
8:30 PM – 9:30 PM EST R&E Research Gala and Dissertation Awards Ceremony
This evening event is hosted by the Research & Evaluation Network. Graduate students who participated in the Research
Gala and Dissertation competitions will be recognized. Winners for both competitions will be announced. We encourage all
graduate students, advisors, reviewers, and others to attend this special event.
