Linda sighed just watching them kiss, then she yelped and
jumped a little. Then she and Trash broke out in laughter.

"Tell you what?" Steve said extremely unconvincingly.
"Why is the American Government spending millions of dollars
looking for you?" she began. "They think you may even be
traitors. Why is this?"

“Okay.” Steve said very slowly and sarcastically. He stuttered
trying to think of how to start. Nanosh giggled and kissed him
on the cheek. He looked at Trash, bewildered.

“Told you, you’d thank me later.” Trash laughed, raised his
glass and took a long drink. Then he began to speak to
Nanosh. “We have something wonderful and terrible in our
possession. It can control minds. That is a power that no man
should be allowed. As you have probably heard, power
corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This would be
as close to absolute power as anyone could have. It must be

destroyed. You need to trust us about this! We’re going to
destroy it. Obviously, somebody within the government wishes
to have this power. We do not know who. We do not know
who in the government even knows about it. We only know
that it must be destroyed or everyone on Earth is at risk.”
