Potentate’s Message

It was a very busy and great month at NUR. This will be a short
communication this month as July will be a little slower than the
past months.

The Pirate Bash on the 1 was fantastic and brought a lot of
st
smiles and fellowship to everyone who attended. The food was
unbelievable and many thanks goes to the Mini-Choppers for the
preparation of the food. It was a great feeling to see two units
working together to accomplish such an event.
The Legion of Honor had their second Pull Tab Bingo on the 2
nd
was well attended. Special Thanks goes out to Bea Wertz and Linda

Auerbach for the work that they put in to make it a great event and to Willie Wertz and Lou
Auerbach for their providing concessions for everyone. Everyone who assisted in making this
happen did a great job and I am sure that all members of the Legion appreciate those who
volunteered during that day.

The New Castle Separation Day on the 8 was a good parade and the cheers and smiles of
the spectators was unbelievable.

The Business Meeting that was held on the 10 was well attended and several concerns
were addressed. The report about the improvements of your building showed significant progress.
There are still quit a few things to get accomplished so please check your emails for work party
dates and details.

The Potentate’s Luau on the 22 was well attended and we were visited by three other
nd
Shrines and the President of MASA. It was fantastic to have the chance to fellowship with NUR
Nobles as well as this year’s counterparts and the MASA President. Thanks goes out to your
Assistant Rabban Chris DeAngelo for the idea of a LUAU. The food was great and the music was
themed really well. Special thanks go out to Willie Wertz, Lady Bea Wertz, and Lady Sandy for
their hard work to make the decorations outstanding. Peggy and Bart were the bartenders and did
a fantastic job as well and the preparation of the Dr. Pepper (my personal choice) was perfect.
Lady Sandy, I deeply appreciate the support shown to the Shrine during this event.

Our Bingo event is doing well and we are in need of volunteers. If you are able to donate
even a few hours a month or every other month please contact me and we will definitely
appreciate the assistance.

The month of July brings us a chance to catch our breath a little before entering the busier
months left in this year. Imperial Sessions will be in Reno this year so that will be a busy time for
your Representatives on the Iowa and Colorado side.
