the military, was able to found and sell two companies, both valued at more than $200 million.
Jim commands respect, while at the same time conveying warmth – an unusual combination. He commands respect, not just because of his physical or career stature, but because of his clear thinking and decision making. When faced with difficult Trustee decisions, he led the way towards hearing all sides of an argument and then synthesizing into a clear question or decision.
His Mormon faith drives about everything in his life. He lives moment to moment in prayer when necessary.
He credits his success to his religion, early working experience and his wife Jeneane. As he puts it: “She has carried me for 45 years with a strength and determination that classifies as a miracle.”
Jeneane fought cancer for 15 years and succumbed shortly after our interview nearly five years ago. Jim has since remarried and moved to Utah permanently. He sought a grandfather’s license, but his daughters decided he spoiled the kids too much.
