Defining SIP
trunk problems; the survey

By Gary Audin
SIP trunking should be a commodity instal-
lation with few or no problems. This is
not true. Every year the The SIP School
performs an international survey of SIP
trunk problems and reports the results in
a report with discussions of the problems

Unlocking the
potential of UC
for VARs and SIs

or enterprises, the true complexity of
UC is starting to hit home. Not least
because of the increasing numbers
of UC applications and services avail-
able, multiple devices per user, and multi- country dial plans and gateways to manage.
TCO is becoming a pressing issue too.
Out-tasking communications to the
cloud is growing in its appeal in order to
control costs, mitigate risk, reduce admin-
istration, and benefit from next generation
collaboration tools. Recent months have
seen a growing number of enterprise com-
panies moving to the cloud. According
to Infonetics, 19% of enterprises have
implemented a portion of their UC in
the cloud: http://www.infonetics.com/

asp. As interest in cloud communications
gathers pace, there is momentum amongst
the Value Added Reseller and Systems
Integrator community to have a cloud com-
munications offering in place, to reap the
rewards of this trend.
