TEM Host & Load vs. Managed Services
and the primary missing ingredient in the TEM business practice is the technology supporting
the internal resources. The host-and-load aspect of this configuration addresses automation used to acquire and load carrier invoice and related inventory data, which may include manual or partially automated entry of paper billing media. Technology and Managed Services offers all that Technology plus Host-and-Load has to offer plus some level of skilled resources to complete work in one or more TEM practice workstreams. This configuration is good when the enterprise is either resource constrained or has limited TEM domain expertise, or in cases where the business desire is to outsource workstreams to a third party.
Regardless of the TEM model you select, always seek to gain clear understanding of the benefits and scope of each before selecting the model best suited for your business needs. ■
companies like Tollring act as a Processor and need to provide the necessary information, tools and facilities to help the channel and end users to meet GDPR compliance and to be able to prove that the rights of individuals are being protected. Tollring will help its channel partners to understand how iCall Suite facilitates compliance, so they can educate their end customers on how, in their industry sector, they can use the solutions and services in a compliant way.
Tollring encourages its channel partners to revisit and educate their entire customer base on the requirements of GDPR. The importance of adhering to this new regulation should not be overlooked; whilst the financial cost of non-compliance may not break a company,
the reputational damage of failing to protect customers’ data could be ruinous.

Ask the Telecom Pro - June 2018
Q: How is GDPR compliance enforcement different than other personal data privacy regulations?
A: There are several differences, but two that notably stand out are the breach notification window and the non-compliance penalty. GDPR requires notification of any breach within 72 hours, which means that robust protocols must be in place
to identify and interpret breaches in real time. Additionally, the cost of non-compliance is significant – €20M (approximately $25M USD) or 4% of global annual revenue, whichever is greater.
Q: My company is consolidating telecom and IT services and assets into a single database
to increase visibility across all technology. Is this a common practice or are we ahead of others in adopting this approach?

a single, consolidated inventory of technology to increase visibility and
to improve business analysis abilities. Despite the desire to consolidate data, only 44% of enterprises report having
a single inventory of all IT and telecom assets and services today, according to AOTMP’s most recent industry research.

requirements that dictate the model best suited for the situation and each model is not priced
or scoped the same. Let’s examine what factors contribute to selecting a Technology plus Host- and-Load configuration versus a Technology and Managed Services configuration.
Technology plus Host-and-Load is good when the enterprise has sufficient internal resources and domain expertise in telecom expense management

particularly in SME and vertical sectors, where for general business purposes consent to record
a call needs to be obtained. Other organisations, such as those in the financial sector or emergency and security services will need to record calls to comply with specific regulation or to protect the public interest. Call recording functionality will need to demonstrate that it meets the criteria laid down in the Regulation. We are excited about our recent product development and are confident that these enhancements will add further value to our partners and their customers.”

While the market consumes these models more frequently, it should not be assumed that these models are the best or most robust TEM offerings available. Every enterprise has specific business
