COLWELL
by Timothy C. Colwell, SVP Efficiency First® Adoption – AOTMP (www.aotmp.com)
AOTMP de nes Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) as the comprehensive set of enterprise- wide mobility related people, processes, policies, vendors and technologies involved in managing the lifecycle of all mobile devices, M2M and IoT connected endpoints, services and applications. While the scope
of EMM is broad, the objective is precise – manage mobility e ciently and e ectively. e challenge with meeting the objective
is keeping up with the pace of change; technology, endpoints, applications and users change frequently, making peak e ciency and e ectiveness moving targets.
Supporting enterprises in EMM are a host of vendors that each o er a set of solutions supporting enterprises. To understand the EMM vendor landscape, let’s identify the scope of so ware vendors. So ware vendors address application, content, device, expense, identity and uni ed endpoint management activities. e activities are represented by the acronyms: MAM, MCM, MDM, MEM, MIM, UEM, respectively. So ware may address one or more of these management attributes.
Next, consider services vendors o ering full or partial MMS (Managed Mobility Service). Services vendors address audit, optimization, invoice processing, inventory, dispute resolution/exception management, EMM so ware administration, help desk, procurement, ful llment (device kitting/

e platform also permits mobile communications to be automatically logged in applications such as Customer Relationship Management systems, including Salesforce.
“Today’s ‘always-on’ business world demands communications that are highly mobile, yet highly secure,” said Nick Rea, Vice President, Mobility Innovations division, Samsung Electronics America. “We’re pleased to work with Tango Networks to help companies hit the perfect balance of mobility and security with a solution that helps expand a company’s Uni ed Communications footprint, while increasing policy enforcement and security for their mobile enterprise users.”

manage access to applications
and systems versus managing devices, which gives the appearance of device management. This approach does not address securing devices or content stored on the devices, though. So, while MDM may not be required in all situations, it is required if device control is a business requirement.
