It has been approved for development in Koh Producer (IPP) plant.
Kong’s Botum Sakor district by the Cabinet. The $1.5
billion investment in the Independent Power Producer
(IPP) plant. It will take about four years to complete and
                 80 percent – 4,765.44 million – kilowatt hours a year of
the power generated by the power plant will be sold to
the Electricite Du Cambodge (EDC). This plant is
expected to start generating power by between the end
of 2025. The company has been mandated to
undertake a rigorous environmental impact assessment
on the proposed project site, including the possible ct
on the front where the jetty is to be constructed as well
                 as pollution control.

The project has a 35-year operating licence and is to
be undertaken on a “build - own operate” basis. This is
the second power plant project being undertaken by
Royal Group. The first is the 400 MWs Lower Sesan 2
hydropower plant, located at Stung Treng. This was
officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Hun Sen in
December 2018 and has an investment capital estimated
at $850 million. By pushing the boundaries of power
plant design in this manner, the fossil fuel industry will
ensure that clean coal continues to play a pivotal role in
the global energy mixture to the middle of the century
                 and beyond.
