It’s not too late to play your part!
Duty of Care
We oppose euthanasia and assisted suicide
because:
Vulnerable people must be protected from
pressure to take their own lives
The lives of disabled and dying people have value
and worth
Trust in the clinician-patient relationship must
be preserved
It is the only way to prevent future extension to
children, people with non-terminal illness and
those who are tired of life.
Assisted Dying Bill
One of the concerns has been that this bill -
which Catholics oppose on the basis of Catholic
social teaching - might be, like abortion, ‘the thin
edge of the wedge’. We have already seen how
‘the thin edge’ might proceed: already we have
moved from involving a high court judge to a
little group of experts. Resorting to a high court
judge would work only if numbers were small.
There is much more flexibility if one has to resort
only to little groups of experts. The dilution of
Christian principles is clear to see.
(Mgr Andrew Burnham)
This is very serious!
We need to increase our prayers so that this
Assisted Suicide Bill might be defeated, when in
April it will have its 3rd Reading in Parliament.
We need to increase our endeavours in prayer, Ø
