a restaurant, shop at the mall, or attend a concert, we do have the ability to control everything we think and do in a day. It is our choice. We have the ability to control when we start work, how we work, what we say, who we talk to, and what we do with our time.
During the busy times of the past many of us let the events control us. We didn’t follow-up with customers because we were too busy closing homes. We let work pile up telling everyone we were overwhelmed. We don’t have those excuses now. You can control every aspect of your life, so take control!
Be Disciplined
Since I coach a lot of sales people, I find that many are struggling with the lack of customer interaction. A lot of what we love about this industry is juggling many balls at the same time, the distractions, and the problem solving. So, when you sit in an office and no one comes in what will you do with your time? You have to become disciplined.
Today” list. For example, if you haven’t been great at prospect follow-up, now is the time to start a daily habit of follow-up. Establish a timeline for creating something new each day to put in front of your customers. Schedule a time to touch base with current customers and previous customers.
One of my favorite lines is “Suit Up and Show Up”. Keep a disciplined schedule. Show up to work on time, not late just because no one will know. Dress like you are interviewing for a new job. Let’s face it, if we see a prospect today, they really want to buy if they are willing to be out in the midst of all of this.
Educate Yourself Daily
In all the years I have been teaching and coaching I have always heard the same excuse for individuals not studying their craft.... I don’t have time. Schedule at least an hour every day to listen to a Webinar. There are certainly a lot of free ones out there right now. Listen to an audible book, or read one. You have the time to become the best version of whatever it is you do, so take advantage of that!
