   Not all twins are identical.
Fraternal twins, or dizygotic twins,
are born when two eggs develop at the
same time. These babies share about 50 percent
of their DNA, just like any other siblings. They can be the same or different sexes, and they often do not look the same.
Maya and Sophia Corces, 8, are fraternal twins. Maya is older than Sophia by 18 short minutes. Although they are twins, their interests vary.
“We have the same tastes in some things, different in others,” Maya said.
These twins love to participate in extracurriculars, but their interests vary.
“We both are in band, but we don’t play the same instrument. I don’t do any sports, while Maya does volleyball,” said Sophia.
If they were not twins, the Corces sisters agree that life would be rather boring. These sisters appreciate their close bond and love to spend time together. However, these twins are just like any other pair of siblings, and they differ in important ways.
“We do not have the same type of personalities. I’m an introvert and my sister is an extrovert,” Sophia said.
The Corces’s may be twins, but
they still don’t want
to be compared.
Although born at
nearly the same time,
they both live in different
ways and have contrasting personalities.Twins have always captured the imaginations of mystery authors and movie producers alike, but get to know these duets and you’ll discover more than just carbon copies. Twins
are unique individuals who have distinctive tastes, preferences, and personalities- just don’t get them mixed up.
