 BPS Child Advocates
Cocoa-based district employees were honored at the Annual Child Abuse Prevention Task Force awards banquet. Saturn Elementary’s Deborah Harris, Heather Saft, and Pam Williamson received the Brevard County Community Award for their efforts to support a sibling group who was separated due to a family situation. The staff worked together to help the students stay enrolled at their home school, Saturn Elementary, acclimate
to their placements and to allow the siblings to see each other on a daily basis. In addition, Head Start family advocates Sonia Mariani (Cambridge Elementary) and Cindy Wortham (Enterprise Elementary) were award nominees.

The district has been working closely with Blackboard Web Community Manager to develop a new look and feel for the Brevard Public Schools website. This update will affect district and school pages, including moving away from the Edline parent portal.
What to expect:
• training for school and district-based employees in summer and fall
• an example of the new website over the summer for stakeholder feedback
• new district site will launch first, followed by elementary, middle, and high schools being rolled out in stages
