Swim is powering through the season, winning swim meets and persevering their skills throughout the year. The boys team beat Astronaut 141-39 with some key performances throughout the meet.
Chris Nitz, 9, Preston Bobanic, 10, Sid Girdhar, 11 and Sean Miller, 12, all attacked the 200 yard medley relay, as well as David Cox, 10, Hunter Mealing, 12, Preston Bobanic, 10, and Sammy Quigg, 10, who slammed the 200 yard freestyle relay.
“The swim team has a lot of advantages like other sports because you can take your mind off things,” Alex Wu, 8, said. “In swimming, you have to focus on what you are doing because if you don’t know how to do the motions, you can’t play the sport.”
Wu is on the swim team, competing against schools like Space Coast and others in district and regional meets.
“I’m not looking forward to any of the Cape Coast meets and any of the districts and regionals because they freak me out. I am actually kind of excited because I
have a meet against Space Coast coming up,”
said Wu.
All in all, he hopes for his team to improve from the foundation they have already built and create a stronger team.
“I hope that we can improve from what we have already and what we can still do, even though we are at this point, what we can do to continue our improvement.”
Girl’s swim are speeding through the season, beating Astronaut 137-48. Some key performers were from Ali Neimeyer, 9, Makaila Johnson, 9, Mikey Woodrich, 10, and Hailey Janke, 12, in the 200 yard medley relay. Also, Jasmine Almeda, 11, for her 100 yard backstroke.
The girl’s and boy’s teams just won against Merritt Island High, both teams leaving the score at 4-2.
“I think bowling is a really fun sport made up of a really interesting group of people. It is really a fun environment,” said Samantha Steele, 10.
The girl’s started rough, but are persevering to each become better bowlers throughout the season.
“I don’t know the specific edgewood scores, but my personal highest, which is what we are normally trying to improve, is 125. And, I’ve been getting better,” said Steele. “We have a game against astronaut coming up and I think we are going to win that, and we are expected to definitely go to districts.”
The boy’s team have kicked the season off with a great start, winning the majority of the games they have played and continuing to rock the season with their bowling balls and shoes. They hope to keep their scores high and knock as many pins down as possible!
