New Playgrounds for Palm Bay and Gemini Elementary
Palm Bay Elementary
After 10 years of hard work from school staff spirit
nights, support from Community Credit Union marketing initiatives, and the district’s School Initiated Project matching funds program, Palm Bay Elementary students have a brand new playground! The project has been a labor of love for gifted teacher, Barbi Miller, and Breann Robertson, bookkeeper, who spearheaded the building and installation of the playground project with help from Anne Everly in Facilities Services.
  Gemini Elementary
Gemini Elementary raised more than $55,000 for its new playground, through a school-wide Jog-a-thon, as well as through the Board of Directors of the Greiner Family Foundation Grant and a BPS School Initiated Project matching grant. Students also organized bake sales, sold lemonade and made and sold jewelry on their own time, and then donated their earnings back to the school. The school chose an eco-friendly, non-corrosive, R3 recycled, composite playground, which can provide up to 50 years of exercise and fun for generations of students. An official ribbon cutting took place on May 23rd as part of the school’s end of year Family Fun Night.
