Name: Officer Lopez, School Resource Officer, Johnson Middle School
Officer Lopez is such a positive influence with the students from Johnson Middle School both on and off campus. On at least two occasions, he has gone out of his way for special education students
by considering their background, their disabilities and building rapport. He is a true example of a school resource officer. He is the Heart of Brevard.
Professional Development
The New Teacher Networking was a success! Teachers began the evening with a “Let’s Get to Know Each Other” icebreaker, which was followed by a motivational PowerPoint connecting to their WHY. Teachers had time to share at their tables their WHY and ways that they can continue to reinforce their reason for choosing to become a teacher. Teachers were then given 15 minutes to network and enjoy pizza and salad, sponsored by BFT. The last hour was devoted to “Make and Take Sessions” where teachers could choose three roundtables to attend based on their grade level and content area to learn new strategies for success. Content specialists and teacher leaders provided hands on activities in Math, ELA, Science, and AVID strate- gies for all grade levels.
