A Massive Discovery
The Biggest Snake That Ever Lived
Scientists were shocked when they put together all the pieces of a Titanoboa that they had found over the years. Why?
Because they found vertebrae (bones that make up the spine) from multiple snakes that measured between 42–49 ft. (12.8–15 m) long. That means that Titanoboa was as long as a school bus and weighed as much as a small rhino! The ancient snake was likely related
to modern boas, but it lived like the anaconda, meaning that it liked to swim in rivers and swamps, and could eat crocodiles.
