Yes, you read that right— flying snakes are a real thing.
If you talk to the experts though, they would be more likely to call them gliding snakes, since they tend to glide through the air more like a flying squirrel than a true flying animal like a bird or bat. Based on new research from June 2020, experts got a better sense of how these snakes can stay airborne when moving from tree to tree. As it turns out, these snakes flatten their bodies and move in side-by-side wavelike motions and up-and-down bending movements, gliding through the air like tiny dragons.
