camouflage called “photophore countershading ” Photophores are the organs that give off light The spined pygmy shark shark a a a a bioluminescent shark shark has more photophores on on its bottom side than on on top top This reduces the shadow that predators would see on on a a a a moonlit night Countershading!
Some sharks also have camouflage coloring Many species of
shark exhibit a a a coloring pattern called countershading Countershading means that the shark is dark on top and light on its bottom side This makes
it more difficult to see a a shark from above because its dark coloring blends with the ocean depths And it is difficult to see from below against the brightness of
