Boy’s Basketball
With a schedule that features Cape Coast Conference powerhouses Astronaut and Rockledge, the varsity basketball team secured their first win on November 30 when they played Circle Christian of Winter Park. The boys won by a convincing score of 65-33, led by Dustin Smith, 11, who racked up 18 points. Sophomore guard, Justin Cook, came in having won the MVP in the preseason tournament that featured Circle Christian and put up an impressive nine points to go with four rebounds, two steals, and an assist.
“It felt great to get our first win,” Cook said. “We worked well together as a team and it showed.”
The boys completed the first half of their season before the winter break and look ahead to a second half that features island rivals Merritt Island Christian School and Merritt Island High School. The boys will have their senior night on February 1 and they play West Shore at home on January 25.
“We’re excited for the second half of our season,” Cook said.
