How to Survive Dining Out with Young Kids
For parents of young children, dining out can seem like a big task when so many factors are involved. Here are a few small tips to make eating at restaurants an enjoyable experience for both parents and kids:
• Select restaurants that are kid-friendly. Kid menus and activities go a long way.
• Choose the right time and day to go to the restaurant. Weekends are often too busy, instead choose a weekday and aim to head out at around 5:00 p.m.
• Take small snacks that you can give your child while you are waiting for food.
• Make a restaurant toolkit to take with you. Include comfort toys or age-appropriate activities, like crayons, puzzles, books, or small games.
Being prepared and planning ahead will help your child and family have a pleasant experience.
