Natural Resources donates MedReturn box to Satellite Beach PD
(From Left to right: Pamela McRoy, NRMD, Debra Boothe, NRMD, Heather Nealis, SBPD, Commander Berrios, SBPD)
Debra Boothe, a Hazardous Waste Inspector for the Natural Resources Management Department (NRMD), was fortunate to win a MedReturn drug collection unit during the 2018 North American Hazardous Materials Management Association Workshop in May 2018 and has donated it to the
Satellite Beach Police Department (SBPD).
The MedReturn box allows citizens to safely dispose of unwanted prescription drugs keeping them from ending up in our groundwater, or surface and drinking
water sources.
The box is located at the SBPD, 510 Cinnamon Drive, Satellite Beach, and can accept prescription medications, vitamins and ointments from citizens. Syringes, inhalers, liquid medications and
aerosols are not accepted, nor are wastes from businesses.
The NRMD’s Hazardous Waste Program strives to educate the small businesses community on proper management, storage and disposal of hazardous and regulated waste to protect Brevard’s soil and groundwater. For additional information on disposal of unwanted medications or other
hazardous/regulated waste issues, contact the NRMD Hazardous Waste Program at 321-633-2017.
