Edgewood’s
Athletes
This year Edgewood’s sports are coming back stronger and better than ever.
M.S. Basketball
Last year, middle school basketball played across the county, gaining experience with every game and hoping to urn that experience into wins this season. New seventh- graders are coming aboard, joining the returning eighth- graders and hoping to benefit from their knowledge of the game and their opponents.
“I want to help out as a leader and step up my game,” Bailey smith, 8 said. “I’m excited about our new lineup and I think we have a lot of potential.”
Bowling
Bowling is the perfect family fun activity, but Edgewood’s teams makes the sport more than just enjoyable. These competitive rollers are looking to continue their winning ways as teams from last season as well as improve individually. “My main goal for the season is to get better at bowling and enjoy it, and I need to improve my form.” Anna Duncan, 10 said. “I’m most excited about meeting all the new people on the team and watching them grow.”
Golf
Golf is a sport of concentration, focus, and athleticism. As the reigning district champs, the boy’s team is looking for a repeat, while the increased size of the girl’s team has them looking for championships,
“I’m excited that I am doing a little better than last year already and that I have an opportunity to be even better this season,” said Asher Joseph, 8. “My main goal is to try to win the conference championship, and have as low of an average of a score I can have.”
Cross Country
Cross country is coming back this fall with quick feet and lots of sweat. They blistered courses last year and are focused on lowering their times every time they cross the finish line

Volleyball
Last year, volleyball had an amazing season and gained much popularity around
the school. Technique is key in the sport with all the movements, so the team is working hard to be ready for the new season.
“I’m excited to play Merritt Island High and our homecoming game. MI is our rivalry,” Carlisle Helpling,
9 said. “I’m a middle hitter, so I want to be able to improve my directional swings and serves this season.”
M.S. Cheer
Middle School cheer is coming back to hype everybody up, and anybody who comes to a game should be prepared to clap along to the rhythm. Mrs. Cofer, the coach for the MS team, had a couple of things to say about this season.
“Mostly I want them to have fun and work together as a team,” the MS coach said. “My hope is that as a unit, they can help grow spirit and pride in not only our
Middle School basketball teams, but the 7th and 8th grade classes as a whole.”
All of the fall sports teams are getting ready to play for the new season, and team players are excited to get back into the game! But, only competitions can prove how practices have improved the player, so time will tell!
