That’s So VSCO!
“And I oop-,” says a teenage girl with a bright pink scrunchie on her wrist, picking
up the Hydro Flask that she had dropped to the floor. She opens it and takes a friendly sip,
as the girl next to her says, “That’s so VSCO!”
Huh?
VSCO is a social media application centered around photography. The app, one of the latest to emerge in popularity, has
recently become a part of a new trend: scrunchies, Hydro Flasks, and shell chokers.
The style includes clothing brands such as Brandy Melville, Simply Southern, Crocs, and Birkenstocks. VSCO girls also
wear lots of jewelry. These symbolic figures pretty much make up a VSCO girl, but there is one factor that is more than material: environmental awareness.
Reusable water bottles, along with metal straws, always make an appearance in a VSCO girl’s ensemble.
The very well known water bottle always associated with VSCO girls comes from a highly rated company that takes pride in their product, the Hydro Flask. This insulated bottle is an iconic VSCO feature, mostly accompanied with stickers that present the owner’s personality and aesthetic. They can range from pineapples to sloths to avocados.
Along with the bottle, you can always find a VSCO girl with a scrunchie, usually stretched on her wrist. This item has been brought back from decades ago and has really hit it off with teenagers in a resurgence of 80’s style.
Lastly, VSCO girls are always trying to make a statement with their style, wearing what they want how they want to create a certain aesthetic. And this aesthetic has certainly found its way into every middle and high school.
The Extra-Terrestrial Side of Nevada
A flash crosses through the night sky- a simple blink would have missed it. Maybe it was a shooting star, but maybe it wasn’t. Could it possibly have been something very far from the ordinary?
Area 51 is a government facility that has been under question from popular media for a while. This “UFO Capital” is enthralling as an idea of a designated governmental headquarters for alien affairs.
The military installation is located in southern Nevada, in the middle of the West near California. The whereabouts of Area 51 add to the suspicious conspiracies, since it is positioned in a mountain-filled terrain with a mildly small population. This building started getting recognized for its suspiciousness. It was 2013, and a few years later a Facebook group would
form, planning to raid the building on September 20th of 2019. But, in violation of their community standards, Facebook took the page down.
The creators of the group decided to throw a huge festival called AlienStock instead of barging into government property. What a shocker! It is planned to be the date of the original “raid” lasting until the Sunday after.
The event is all about meeting other believers of the unknown. The event will produce live music, camping, and other alien-related festivities. This plan seems to have taken over the “raid,” but who knows what will happen on the 20th. Only time can truly tell.
The Tik Tok Tea
What would happen if Musical.ly and Vine were to have a baby? Well, Tik Tok would form, an online universe full of lip- syncing and fortnite dances.
This app has produced 500 million users around the world and is coded to serve globally with 75 different languages. It brings a creative and quirky element to its customers lives with its cool editing abilities and fun sounds.
This online app has become a massive phenomenon within the generation. You can see teenagers everywhere making short, fun videos. They can range from the most popular vines to the craziest daredevils jumping from building to building. Although fun to watch, it’s even more fun to create.
Teens can create all kinds of videos including dance chains, aesthetics, and duets. These videos can grow huge, appearing on the For You page and getting tons of likes. The app has created huge Tik Tok stars such as Benji Krol, Kevin Perry, and Jey Jey Gardi.
Tik Tok is a great opportunity to use your skills to make cool, yet sometimes stupid, videos. It is a genuinely fun app that has turned into a very trendy online solar system. Everyone revolving around it like the planets around the Sun, wanting to
see the daily feed of what’s new on Tik Tok.
