Brevard Public Schools has more than 700 partners
in education (PIE) including businesses, faith-based organizations, and non-profits. They help us to serve students by contributing to our schools, whether it be time, finances, or opportunities.
One partner, Georgianna United Methodist Church on Merritt Island, has partnered with Cambridge Elementary,
in Cocoa, for over eight
years. BPS has featured
this partnership in a video as
a great example for other potential faith-based partners.
“It takes a village to raise a child and they have become one of our village members, and we raise the children of
Cambridge Elementary School together,” said Wendy Smith, Cambridge’s principal.
It’s a sentiment shared by many involved in partnership.
The BPS mission is, “to serve every student with excellence as the standard,” and we know that we cannot do this without the help of our community.
Rachel M. Roberts
was appointed interim principal at Columbia Elementary in Palm Bay, effective July
1. Roberts previously served as administrator of the charter Odyssey Preparatory Campus in Palm Bay.

in Williams’ honor because he was an “awesome” math teacher, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent. “Back when he was a math teacher, he worked out at the Kennedy Space Center in
the summer doing fuel calculations just like those characters in the movie, Hidden Figures,” she said.
She also worked with Bob Fritz who would tell
stories about how quickly the district was growing back in the growth years for the space program. “He would be eating at a restaurant and overhear someone saying they were a qualified teacher and he’d hire them on the spot,” McNichols said.
McNichols’ wealth of knowledge and long years of service to BPS clearly qualify her for super hero status.
