Last year BPS installed Peachjar, an automated e-flyer system that sends digital images of each flyer directly to parents’ email addresses. This alleviated lots of man hours prepping flyers to go home with students in their back packs. The district is on track to save $140,687 on paper and printing costs for the 55 elementary schools that have implemented the system. In the first
seven months after Peachjar was deployed, BPS estimated that it saved 510 trees.
“With Peachjar, we’re saving time, saving money, and saving the environment. Most importantly, we’re able to provide important and timely information to our families the way they want it: on their mobile devices,” said Abby Rex, former media and content coordinator.
Financial Officer Pennie Zuercher offered this breakdown to illustrate the net effect under HB 7069.
In its letter to Gov. Scott, the Central Florida school boards coalition warned: “The financial resources to grant raises to our teachers
and meet inflationary cost increases will be non-existent. This falls far short of your recommended increase in education funding that would have helped ensure a high quality public school system that lures businesses and jobs to our state in order to support our thriving economy.”
