Section 1: Introduction
Educational professionals are often asked to assist in finding mental health services for families. The Brevard Public Schools Referral Sources for Children and Families Manual identifies private and public organizations to help locate licensed practitioners who specialize in providing care for children and their families.
The Mental Wellness Pathways is a school-based framework for identifying and connecting children school-based mental health supports. The Mental Wellness Pathways (MWP) includes defined action steps for school personnel to identify students who need immediate assistance, outside agency assistance, or school-based supports and connect students to evidence-based interventions. Once connected to supports, MWP defines a system for progress monitoring as well as building effective partnerships across sectors and collaborative problem solving on behalf of students.
This manual is available to all BPS educational professionals and online to the public through the Staff Mental Health and Behavioral Resource Link and the Parent and Student Portal. BPS professionals are encouraged to refer to the Brevard Public Schools Referral Sources for Children and Families Manual when assisting families seeking mental health services.
The Brevard Public Schools Referral Sources for Children and Families Manual is sponsored jointly by the Department of Student Services, Department of Elementary Leading and Learning, and the Department of Secondary Leading and Learning.
