Coronavirus Update
There are now presumptive cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Florida, and we want to assure our families and employees that we will continue to be proactive in our planning. We are working in collaboration the Florida Department of Health and the State Depart- ment of Education. We will keep our schools updated as information is shared with us by these entities. For the most up-to-date information on the Coronavirus, we encourage you to visit http://www.floridahealth.gov/diseases-and-conditions/COVID-19/
Please keep these helpful tips in mind on best practices for preventing transmission of respiratory and other illness:

      • Avoid close contact with others who are sick;
• Cover nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing;
• Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer;
• Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth as germs are spread this way;
• Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs; and
• Avoid sharing food and drinks with others.
• Please remember, students/staff/teachers with a fever should
stay home from school until they are fever-free without medication for 24 hours.
 Kona Ice of Palm Bay is a top Partner in Education with Palm Bay Elementary (PBE). Russ and Shannon Young own it, and PBE is grateful for their gener- osity. Kona Ice not only gives out delicious treats that students, parents, and teachers enjoy, but they provide a generous 20% from fundraising events back to our school. The monetary donations are
used to help support PBE’s Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a school-wide initia- tive that promotes positive behavior that benefits all students. Kona Ice not only gives a percentage to our school but also donates small items that are used in the LEAD Loot shop where students visit after they have earned positive incentives when exhibiting PBIS expectations. Kona Ice also gifts our Special Olympics team a celebration at the end of each season. The students look forward to enjoying an ice cold treat after they have worked hard all season.
Kona ice not only visits our school as a fundraiser but also spoils our staff (teachers, custodial, café, office, and administrators) during Teacher Appreciation Week with a free treat. We all enjoy this incredible act of kindness from our Partner in Education! It puts a smile on our faces as we rush out to indulge in our favorite flavor of Kona Ice.
Thank you, Russ and Shannon, for your kindness and generosity! We are proud to have you as our Partner in Education!
