District science & engineering experts
Eight BPS students traveled to Pittsburgh as finalists in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. The event
is the world’s largest pre-college science competition and 1,800 students from more than 80 countries participated in the weeklong event. Some of the district’s students left with
a scholarship, a special award, and second and fourth place wins for their categories. West Shore Jr./Sr. High’s Muhammed Abdulla had the top mathematics project in the world and won a coveted grand award. He also was invited to Stockholm, Sweden for a science seminar and to attend the Nobel Prize award ceremony.
 Teacher Teambuilding
Teachers from across the district came together
over the summer to share ideas, problem-solve and strengthen relationships. There were opportunities for veteran teachers to
learn more about their area of expertise and personal interests. New teachers were also invited to a session to learn strategies that will be helpful in the classroom.
