Greetings from Board Chair, Molly Fortune
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Welcome to 2020, where there is more drama happening off the stage
than on any of our stages. COVID-19 has thrown the world into a new
2020 Board of Directors age where virtual reality, chat rooms, ZOOM backgrounds, and PJs
OFFICERS have taken all of us on an interesting journey. And it’s a journey I am
sure we are weary of and desperately desire to escape.
Molly Fortune
Newberry Opera House Alas, The League is here to welcome you to that desperately desired
Becky Hancock escape! Although we cannot be in our original host city of Cleveland,
the staff and board of directors of your League of Historic American
Tennessee Theatre Theatres are eager to engage, revive, and share during the next
Michael Schnoering, FAIA several days. As I read through several welcome letters provided by
Mills+Schnoering Architects, LLC previous Board Chairs, I realized this letter was going to be fretted with
Maureen Patton clichés instead of restaurant options, and links instead of breakout
The Grand 1894 Opera House sessions. This brave new world is our oyster and reinvention is what our
Stephanie Silverman members do every day!
Belcourt Theatre Change is the only constant we have, and I am proud to be a part of
an organization and membership that can pivot and provide useful,
MEMBERS relevant information and unique networking opportunities all from the
comfort of our fuzzy slippers. It will be a much-needed check-in with
Willa Burke our colleagues to encourage and share our combined experiences.
Jujamcyn Theaters
Laura Corman Each of us has traversed mountains, walked through valleys, and
Educator/Community Volunteer learned many lessons since we last gathered together in Philadelphia.
Christine Delaney Every one of us - from your board of directors to your staff to yourself
Tibbits Opera House - were forced to pivot in some fashion in the last 12 months. Through
Steven Ehrenberg every turn, we all learned a little nugget we didn’t know before that
Ambassador Theatre Group / ATG North moment. Who knew you could put yourself on a remote tropical island
America on Zoom? Or that Ken has so many dishes in a china cabinet behind
Chris Loeser, AIA him? (I bet he hides them for the conference!) Or the immense brain
trust of members that volunteered their time to work out Force Majeure
DLR Group language for other colleagues? I for one am excited to learn from
Keith Marston each of you, to have fun during this process, to grow and feel stronger,
The Shubert Organization more powerful economic engines than yesterday.

Jefferson Live! The League of Historic American Theatres is the premier organization
Bill Register* for historic theatres because of our strong membership, strong staff,
The Nederlander Organization and strong board. Strong and Resilient. Isn’t that what our buildings
Tony Sias demonstrate to us all the time? Strong and resilient is who we are in
Karamu House, Inc. 2020!
Kevin Sullivan* So, without dinner plans with friends… without late night shows with
Maury, Donnelly & Parr, Inc. / National Trust new friends… try to take the time to dive deep into the conference

this year. All the sessions will be available again to stream so you can
review them with others. Invite your staff! Invite your Board! Invite that
one donor you’ve been cultivating for years! This may be a unique
BOARD EMERITUS time, but LHAT is unique every day and let’s share the knowledge, ask
Dana Amendola questions, think outside the box and lift each other.
Disney Theatrical Group Welcome to the LHAT 2020 Virtual Conference- a unique conference
John Bell for a unique collection of strong and resilient organizations and
Tampa Theatre people.
