Family and friend ties dominate the different resource networks, although there is some variability
between them. While 53% of residents said it was family they would turn to when they needed practical
help, family were only mentioned in 23% of cases regarding individual change-making networks. For this
network, friends and local organisations account for 48% of the change-making resources described by
respondents. The table below shows how many people said they used certain resource networks for
different needs.

Statutory organisations played a role in some of the supportive networks in Ormsgill. For example, the
NHS was cited as offering practical and social support, and the local primary schools and the PCSO for
