Expressions

Art in all its forms – paintings, poetry, drama and so on, is
a reflection of life. And through art, we express our
aspirations for the future. How we want to live, and what
we want our world to be like.
This compilation of paintings and photographs of
performances comes from children all across the state,
both boys and girls. They offer us insights into what our
adolescents feel today.

Many see streaks of darkness and cruelty in the way
girls are treated in traditional rituals and practices.
Some see influences of change. It is encouraging to see
that many express hope for a better future for
themselves and others.

It is on us to look deeper into these images, and
consider the roles we can play in giving our children a
safer, more equitable future.
