Business Administration
Introduction
National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology
(NKUST) was established on February 1, 2018 by the merger of
three universities that were National Kaohsiung University of
Applied Sciences, National Kaohsiung First University of Science
and Technology, and National Kaohsiung Marine University. The
Department of Business Administration, originally belonged to
National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences, was founded
in August 1989 under the supervision of the Ministry of
Education to replace the five-year vocational program. The
Department offers four-year bachelor program (since 1999),
master program (since 2014) for day school, and four-year
bachelor program (since 2004), master program (since 2000) for
evening school, two-year bachelor program for weekend
continuing education (since 1999). In August 2009, the Program
of Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) was
established. In accordance with the policy of the Ministry of
Education, the Institute of EMBA became a master program of the Department of Business Administration. After the merge of
the three universities, the EMBA program was renamed as EMBA of Business Administration and was listed under the College
of Management.
The Department currently has six programs: four-year bachelor program (BBA) and master program (MBA) of day school,
four-year bachelor program (BBA), master program (MBA) and EMBA program, two-year bachelor program of extension
education (in-service program).
Educational goals
The department uphold the "people-oriented and creative value" concept of the University. The department’s educational
objectives are:
1.Cultivate business management talents theoretically and practically;
2.Train students to equip with the innovation and entrepreneurial capability.
Department Features
●With experienced and enthusiastic faculties in operations management, marketing management, organizational theory,
financial management, human resources management, information management, etc.
● Emphasize the integration of theory and practice, and consolidate the relationship of educational partners through
business liaison
●Compulsory practical project. Through team operation, the students collect data, interview, send out questionnaires, and
give oral presentations, to develop communication skills and interpersonal relationships.
●Pay attention to research and development. Sponsor academic conference regularly. In addition to encouraging personal
research, we also encourage team research to integrate our faculties’ specialties.
●Emphasize on site visits, we would like to enable our students to understand the current business situations.
● The Alumni Associations of Department of Business Administration and EMBA program were established by the
graduates and have since developed rapidly. Alumni including successful business owners and executives, distinguished
managers from various areas, provide a solid backing for graduates of the department.
Career Directions
The department mainly trains students in four career directions including: "marketing and planning", "E-business",
"distribution management" and "administrative management". The graduate program mainly cultivates middle-level
management talents for students' employment in the hi-tech industry, conventional industry, service industry, manufacturing
industry and distribution industry. The EMBA program mainly cultivates high-level management talents and business
owners to enhance their capabilities serve the industry.
