Department of German





          Department Introduction
        This  department  was  founded  in  1997  and  is  the  first  department  in
        Taiwan’s national colleges and universities. It is also the only applied
        German  department  in Taiwan. A  master  program  was  established  in
        2000, focusing on “translation” and “German teaching”.


          Educational Purpose
        In  order  to  achieve  more  outstanding  achievements  in  Taiwan's  economic  development,  the  government
        actively promotes the Asia-Pacific Operations Center project. In addition to the need for professional talents,
        foreign  language  talents  are  indispensable  for  the  promotion  of  internationalization  and  the  arrival  of
        multinational companies in Taiwan. German is an important international language in Europe and plays a key
        role  in  economics,  trade,  politics  and  negotiation. At  the  time  of  today's  demand  for  German  talents,  the
        foreign  literature  departments  of  domestic  universities  and  colleges  are  oriented  towards  literature  or
        linguistics. The courses of this department are specifically aimed at practicality, planning translation, business
        and teaching courses, etc. German professionals required by all walks of life in China.

          Department features
        The department's educational purpose is to cultivate application and practical foreign language talents.
        The  curriculum  planning  features  a  three-in-one  curriculum  design  that  combines  German,  business
        management and language and cultural capabilities, and provides an informational and digital teaching and
        learning  environment  in  order  to  train  students  to  become  professional  German  talents  with  knowledge
        management skills.
        The  master  program  provides  students  with  intensive,  systematic  training  in  German  interpreting  and
        translation, and teacher training programs. In conjunction with the Ministry of Education ’s Second Foreign
        Language Education Program, it actively arranges students of the Institute for internships in high schools to
        increase practical teaching experience.
        The rich German-style cultural classroom "Leibniz Cultural Space-Treffpunkt Kultur" provides students with
        German-style learning environment to shorten the space-time distance between students and German culture
        and helps cross-cultural communication.
