Much of the filming was done at night when the exterior and sur- rounding palm trees were wreathed in bulbs. For the interiors the build- ing was plunged into darkness thanks to an enormous 1000 square metre black-out drape which took five days to put up. Filming was eventually completed at the Riviera Studios, perhaps more famously recalled as Victorine.
