Does true love exist and if so, does anyone have her number? Those are the questions light-heartedly addressed in a new British romantic comedy, Romance And Rejection, set in and around the party circuit and singles scene.
Written and directed by Kevin W Smith, the story follows the mixed fortunes of a talented- but-broke thirtysomething composer who’s a walking disaster with relationships.
Shot on London and Dorset locations, the top-notch cast is headed by Reece Dinsdale (ID, The Thief Takers), John Hannah (Four Weddings & A Funeral, McCallum), Victoria Smurfit (Ivanhoe) and Clara Bellar (Rohmer’s Rendez- Vous in Paris). Susannah York, Frank Finlay and Rowena King also co-star.
A co-production between Leopard Film Entertainment, Meltemi Entertainment and Bloomsbury Films Productions, the executive producers are Michael Guest and Chris Parkinson, with Jonathan English as producer.
Having completed post-production at the end of February, first screenings were held at the recent American Film Market in Los Angeles. World-wide sales are being handled by the Victor Film Company who reported that there has been much attention from prospective foreign buyers.
Romance And Rejection, which was processed at Rank Film Labs, was shot (by DP Ian Salvage) on 35mm Fuji Negative Stock using its full available range, from F-125 to the fast F-500. Reports Guest: “I am extremely pleased and delighted with the picture quality. The results speak for themselves.” ■
