The 1861 Census for the
Vicarage shows Henry Ravenhill living with his female cook and housemaid.Also living at the house in 1861 was a 17 year old stable lad by the name of Herbert Haggood, which would suggest that horses were kept on the premises as the small cottage in the grounds has stabling facilities.
The Reverend Canon Henry Ravenhill - Vicar of the Holy Rood
The Archdeacon William Gunning was followed at Holy Rood Vicarage by the Reverend Henry Ravenhill, who moved into the house in the year 1860.
Born inWarminster circa 1831 the Rev. Henry Ravenhill became a long term incumbent of the Holy Rood, remaining for nearly half a century until 1907.
Caroline Jackson - Schoolmistress
In addition to the residents, a 21 year old schoolmistress was listed as visiting Henry Ravenhill on the night that the census was taken.
Her name was written as Caroline Jaxson, but was Jackson.
