At Mitre House
During the Second World War
Albert and Elinor McWaters moved into Flat 1, Mitre House. Albert McWaters worked as a catering manager and the couple stayed at Flat 1 until the early 1960’s.A gentleman called Ben Williams lived at Flat 3 until the early 1950’s and a Translator and Secretary Anny Rosa Hagen resided at Flat 4 and Flat 6 Mitre House until the early 1960’s.
Living at Flat 5 after the war was Joseph Newton who worked as an Importer and Seller of fancy Radios from Singapore. His wife, June, was a secretary and she remained at Flat 5 until the mid 1960’s.At Flat 6 until the late 1950’s was a lady called Lily Lang, with Daisy Adela Alston at Flat 7.
At Flat 8 until the mid 1960’s were John and Daphne Atkinson with Mabel Nora Snowden living at Flat 9 until the late 1950’s.
