How did you get into this industry, any family connections?
“I got into film-making through an interest in photography, painting and drawing; all of which I’ve done from a
very early age. I also spent most of my teenage years travelling around the UK and Europe making skateboarding films, some- thing which has greatly helped my work as a cinematographer.
I studied Interactive Arts, a multi- discipline Fine Art course in Manchester, where I continued to live for several years, before making the move to London and the Cinematography course at the NFTS.
What were your most recent projects and what was your job on each?
DP on the short film Outcasts with director Ian Clark.
DP on Spilt Milk a half-hour pilot for a TV comedy with director Aniel Karia which featured Joseph Marcell (Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air), Jodie Whittaker (Venus) and
Ben Whishaw (Perfume, I’m Not There) amongst others.
I’ve shot promos for various bands in- cluding The Horrors, Dogs (Both for Corin Hardy at Acadamy), Zdar (for Andy Soup at Bikini), Lethal Bizzle (for Julian Fletcher at PTE) and Ghostcat, which is currently in post-production.
I’ve also shot and edited numerous per- formance videos and documentaries for bands such as The View, Blackstrobe, The Metros, Chistina Aguilera, Kano,
Badly Drawn Boy, The Fratellis, The Twang and The Horrors. I’ve also done a variety of commercial film and multimedia based work for Playstation, The British Council, Red Bull, Etnies, Siemens, Adidas, The Royal College of Art and EA Games.
What are your current and future projects?
I’ve shot two commercials over the past two months, one of which is for Playstation, and then I started work on the first of two short films with director Prasanna Puwa-
narajah. I am also working on various personal projects including a documentary and a music video.
I am extremely pleased to have recently signed with and be represented from now on by Wizzo Features.
What is your experience of working with Fujifilm stock?
I recently shot on some 8 year old Fujifilm stock a friend had given me. I wasn’t too precious with it as it was for a personal proj- ect; I pushed it 2 stops, shot in numerous lighting conditions and saw how far I could get away with both under and over exposing. On receiving the rushes I
was pleased to see everything had
come out amazingly even though it ” was an 8 year old stock. Fantastic!
