The Preservation of Rattanakosin Art & Culture of Thailand (PRACOT)
By Ohm Foundation
Executive Summary
The Preservation of Rattanakosin Art & Culture of Thailand (PRACOT) is a project for documenting the Lai Thai Classical Art Pattern into the Database Management System. It will be an Open Source for the public via PRA- COT website. The Database Management System and the website will be the main focus for the U.S. Ambassa- dor Cultural Preservation Funding (ACPF.) The project is asking for USD $200,118. The Duration of the project funding will begin in June 2018 and end in August 2019.
Lai Thai Classical Art Pattern of the Rattanakosin Era is the basic and genesis of all the Thai Art and Culture. The Master of Lai Thai Classical Art Pattern, recognized by the Ministry of Culture, is now reduced to only one. In the meantime, Lai Thai Classical Art Patterns are ourishingly trade over the internet. None of them are Thai own. In fact, Thailand doesn’t have any Open Source Museum of any kind. PRACOT will be Thailand’s rst Open Source Website dedicated to preservation of Thai Art and Culture, beginning with the Lai Thai Classical Art Pattern.
More extension works will be done with the panoply of Rattanakosin Art Objects: Still Live Objects of everyday life, Buddha Images on the Rattanakosin Island, and Architecture and Engineering of the temples, palaces, and Bangkok landmark buildings. The extension work will depend on the website sustainability plan. After the ACPF funding ends, the PRACOT will have ve sources of revenue; Ohm Foundation’s contribution, donation, member- ship, commission from marketplace, and fee from Intellectual Property Registration.
In addition to art and cultural preservation, PRACOT project’s website will also provide marketplace and com- munity for the Thai Classical Artists. This will be the channel for them to display their works. Since artists can only survive with the market patronage, the website is the place for both the artists and the market to interact. The project website already has a solid marketing plan for both of ine and online media. It aims to ensure social interaction to maximize the opportunity and potential the art and culture community in Thailand. This is the goal of the Ohm Foundation and its partners: the Ministry of Culture and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
