BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF GREATER INDIANAPOLIS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS
Purpose: The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis established the Richard Sapp and HF Tim Hines scholarship programs for the purpose of:
1. Encouraging deserving students who have chosen building as their future vocation to continue in that field and to excel in their studies;
2. Honoring the founders and leaders of BAGI, along with Tim Hines and Dick Sapp, as outstanding role models for those who will follow in their footsteps in the industry, and in their various communities;
3. Informing the public of BAGI’s interest in the future of our profession and our continuing efforts to give back a fair measure to the community in which we live and work.
Awards: The awards are no less than $500 per school year. They are non-renewable. The award is subject to change at the discretion of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. Possible reasons for changing the award amount would be an increase in scholarship fund endowment, increasing college tuition costs, and the scholarship review committee’s decision to increase the number and amount of awards. The award will be deposited with the controller of the appropriate school in the student’s name, and is to be used for tuition and fees redemption only.
Eligibility: The student must be at least a senior in high school and be in good standing with the school. The student must also be a legal resident of the state of Indiana and be enrolled in a construction technology program or a related construction field of study. Past recipients are eligible.
Criteria: Each student will be judged according to academic achievement, prior work experience in the area of construction technology, recommendations by faculty and employers and specific career objectives. Financial information from each candidate will be sought, but will be used only as a secondary basis when making a final judgment.
Selection: Applications must be submitted to the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. The announcement of the winning candidates will occur in the spring semester of the school year prior to that year which the student will be using the award.
